Early Years at the Junior School

3 May 2015

“Playing in the gloop is gooey and sticky. I get to cover the crocodiles in it.”

There is never a dull moment in our Early Years Foundation Stage classes and getting messy with gloop, sequins, coloured water and paints is all part of a normal day.

EYFS at OHS Junior School

Deciding where to send your daughter to school is a huge decision because you want to give her the best start in life. At Oxford High Junior School we share that vision too. In our EYFS site at Woodstock Road, our experienced and highly qualified staff are committed to giving your daughter a happy, positive and affirming start to life at school. We are passionate about providing a curriculum where she will receive personalised care and attention to ensure that she maximises her potential and develops lifelong friendships. The girls flourish under our structured approach and careful attention.

Our Reception classes spill out seamlessly on to outdoor learning spaces which are equipped with purposeful play opportunities. The girls develop their curiosity and extend their thinking though role play, construction, building dens or playing in the ‘Sand-Jacuzzi’ (a wonderful re-branding of our enormous sand pit by the girls themselves!) . New additions such as the wooden Story-Telling Chair and the outdoor musical Spiral Scraper add to the fun, thanks to the Annual Fund.

Although our expectations are high, our girls progress at a pace that’s appropriate for them. We want them and parents to feel supported and valued. We nurture their confidence, persistence and resilience because we know that making mistakes and overcoming setbacks are crucial to their future learning and development. Why not come and see for yourself!
