Careers Insight: Life in the RAF with Sergeant Karl Milgate

20 January 2022

Launching our weekly Careers Insight lunchtime talks, we welcomed Sergeant Karl Milgate from the Royal Air Force.

Yesterday, Sergeant Milgate gave an excellent talk about careers and life in the RAF, going into invaluable detail about the application process and what their recruitment team look for in applicants. He also shared with us the many benefits of being in the RAF, such as their approach to welfare, the multitude of training and education opportunities, travel opportunities, and adventure training!

Sergeant Milgate has served in the Royal Air Force for 18 years in the Logistics sector. He has been on numerous overseas operations and has completed an undergraduate degree whilst serving, funded by the RAF. Sergeant Milgate is also a qualified football coach (which the RAF has incredibly helped and funded) and has worked with international football players.

Thank you to Sergeant Milgate for being so kind to answer all our questions and giving us a glimpse of life in the RAF!

Every Wednesday this term, there will be a Careers Insight talk in the Lecture Theatre at lunchtime. Next week, we will hear from Abi Adams-Prassl, Professor of Economics at Oxford University.
