Expanding Access, Unlocking Potential
At Oxford High School, we believe that talent, curiosity and a love of learning should never be limited by financial circumstances. Our bursary programme is designed to open doors for girls who have the potential to thrive here and for whom a GDST education could be truly transformative.
We’re committed to reaching as many girls as possible through means-tested bursaries, focusing our support where it can make the greatest impact. These awards are not just about financial assistance, they’re about creating opportunities, nurturing ambition, and helping brilliant young minds flourish.
While bursary places are limited, our goal is to ensure that every eligible family has the chance to apply and be considered.
Bursary applications are independently assessed by the GDST Fees Office, not Oxford High School. Awards are means-tested, taking into account family income and assets.
To assess who is eligible for a bursary, a range of objective criteria are taken into consideration, including the income and capital resources of the families applying. It is anticipated that bursary awards will last for the duration of the student’s time at school.
Bursary awards are reassessed every year to take account of any significant changes in family income and circumstances. A bursary may go up or down to reflect such changes. This ensures those most in need continue to receive our support.
We aim to award higher-value bursaries to pupils from families with a total income and resources of less than £49,500. We would not be able to award a bursary to a family whose annual income and resources is greater than £107,500. For those in between, a sliding scale is used to determine the level of support.
Bursaries are available for entry into Year 7, Year 9 (external candidates only), and Year 12. Unfortunately, we’re not able to award bursaries for other year groups.
How to Apply
To apply, tick the bursary box when you complete your application form. Applications must be submitted during the main entry round in the autumn term and late applications won’t be eligible, though your daughter may still be offered a place if space allows.
Once the GDST bursary portal opens in October, you’ll receive login details to complete your application.
Outcomes are shared later in the autumn term.
