A warm welcome to our new Headmaster of Oxford High School, Dr Philip Hills and his family pictured here with his wife Professor Alison Hills, tutorial Fellow in Philosophy at St John’s College Oxford and their two daughters Eleanor and Evie on their first day at Oxford High Junior School.

Dr Hills joins OHS from Hampton School, an all-boys HMC school in Middlesex, which, like Oxford High School,  was rated ‘exceptional’ for achievement by the Independent Schools Inspectorate last year.  Dr Hills is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge and, after a spell as a lecturer in the Cambridge Classics Faculty and a Research Fellowship at Jesus College, Cambridge, he began his school-teaching career at Eton College, where he spent four years before going on to head the Classics departments of two leading independent day schools.

Professor Alison Hills,  a Tutorial Fellow in Philosophy at St John’s College, Oxford is very familiar with the values of the GDST as an alumna of Portsmouth High School. She said “It is a real pleasure to be part of a school and a community imbued with the  values of the Girls Day School Trust and the belief in educating pioneering young women. We are both excited about our daughters joining a school with such illustrious alumnae as Oxford High.”
