What are the four Cs that define a GDST girl?
Confident, Courageous, Composed and Committed
At Oxford High, these four words are used as the basis of a coherent, common language linking life in the whole school together in a shared goal of giving our girls the skills they will need when they look beyond UCAS forms and begin seeking job interviews in the workplace. Our aim is to ensure that all students are ready to face the challenge of being future leaders as composed, confident young women with the commitment and the courage to aim high in all that they do.
In reality, we know that exploring the concept of, say, confidence can mean something different to a girl in Reception (riding her bike without stabilisers, perhaps) to a Sixth Former (showing leadership in her Prefect duties) but the common theme of these four values is about responsible risk-taking and being unafraid of challenge. We want OHS girls to seize the initiative whilst feeling secure in the knowledge that they are learning how to be resilient and resourceful when faced with difficult or frustrating situations..
The many activities, clubs and opportunities in school are set within the framework of these core values so that girls develop key life skills alongside their academic, sporting, or artistic achievements. Staff ensure that time is set aside for personal reflection and evaluation, mentoring, and supportive target-setting alongside celebrating the achievement gained in these areas of personal growth.
