OHS girls have forged ahead of the national trend once more and achieved an increase in A*/A grades at A Level with a stunning 54% of our Sixth Form achieving a clean sweep of A*/A grades. In fact, we are the leading school within the GDST for A Level results. Three quarters of all the OHS students’ A Level grades were A*/A, and the subjects in which girls achieved 100% A*/A covers a hugely diverse range including Physics, Further Maths, Ancient Greek, Mandarin, German and English . Once again, 100% of our students applying to study Medicine have been successful and 100% of those girls who studied for an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) gained A*grades. We firmly believe this is evidence of the power of young women making their own choices for academic research, combined with one to one supervision from our exceptional staff.
What is particularly striking this year is the correlation between pursuing a passion for a specific subject and achieving academic success. Our students have the opportunity to study what they love because of our unparalleled choice of 26 A Level subjects. More than 20% of those starting university in September are heading to Oxbridge to study a wide range of fascinating subjects such as Anglo Saxon, Norse & Celtic, as well as Chemistry, English and Maths. 85% have gained places at their first choice of university, most of which are Russell Group. These high-achieving young women can now look forward to continuing their love of learning at destinations as diverse as Madrid for Medicine, Classics at St Andrews and Computer Visualisation & Animation at Bournemouth.
I am incredibly proud of every one of our Oxford High girls who received her results this week.
